SLIM Dashboard: Turn Physical Stock Readings Into Useful Visibility

Plan the item, location, stock and exception information needed from a SLIM inventory application, alongside refill workflows and agreed ERP/WMS interfaces.

Start with the decision the team needs to make

An inventory display is useful when it helps an authorized person take a defined action. Start with questions such as which monitored locations need refilling, which readings require investigation and whether an agreed material movement has been recorded. Choose the information and responsibilities around the workflow instead of treating every reading as a complete inventory decision.

Connect the reading to an item and location

Define the item master, monitored location, container and expected unit-weight or load information. A measurement without that context does not establish which material is present. The application needs the agreed mapping and exception rules so a changed item, replacement container or unexpected reading is handled deliberately.

Visibility and replenishment are separate steps

A low balance can support an alert or a replenishment request. Agree the threshold, recipient, task ownership and confirmation step. Where an ERP or WMS participates, specify which system authorizes the transaction and what happens if a request is rejected or delayed. A displayed balance does not replace quality status, purchasing policy or batch identity.

Agree access, hosting and interfaces

On-premise and cloud deployments have different network and operating responsibilities. Confirm authorized roles, connectivity, timestamps, interface ownership and support arrangements for the chosen installation. Do not assume an offline workflow, report, notification channel or integration exists until it is included in the application scope and tested.

Validate the complete operating loop

Use a representative item and location. Consume material, observe the updated reading, trigger the agreed exception or refill rule, complete the response and check the business-system record where integration is in scope. Include tare changes and abnormal readings. Review data freshness and the manual fallback procedure during a connection interruption.
